On Wednesday 21st April, the GISSTT Executive met with Senator, the Honorable Allyson West, Minister of Public Administration and Digital Transformation. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the potential use of GIS and Geospatial Technologies in the digital transformation process and a potential collaboration between MPADT and GISSTT.
As an integrating technology, GIS provides an ideal platform to support digital transformation initiatives in our current economic climate. This is due to its potential to improve efficiency and cost savings; inform evidence-based decision making; improve communications, collaboration, and connectivity; and support location-based services.
GISSTT looks forward to contributing to this collaborative effort as we continue to advocate for the use of GIS as a tool to facilitate national development through spatial awareness. The executive committee extends, on behalf of the society, appreciation to the Honorable Minister and all attendees.
